Somatic Experiencing offers you the ability to ease into distressing content without talking extensively about the past, reliving it in any way, or feeling even more overwhelmed. Through co-regulation (meaning I am privileged to witness , guide, and hold space for you), and a partnership with the nervous system, Somatic Experiencing incorporates gentle movement , breathwork, sound, and mindfulness of trauma -related sensations and emotions to help you release stored trauma and become embodied and liberated. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which focuses on narrative content, Somatic Experiencing is a bottom up approach to therapy, meaning the focus is on how your body is showing up in the here and now (although there is some talking involved too!) Through accessing the nervous system's 5 channels of stored trauma (sensations, images, behaviors, affect, and meaning), we will safely explore and gently ease into your felt sense of difficult experiences to release tension, restore balance, and foster trust in the wisdom of the body.
