Brainspotting

What is Brainspotting?

Developed by EMDR clinician David Grande in the early 2000s, brainspotting is a type of psychotherapy that works by asking you to identify a focal point also known as the "brainspot" that locates, focuses on, and releases nervous system activation caused by trauma.  Found in the back of the eye, the optic nerve connects to the optic chiasm and optic tracts, then relays information to other areas of the brain including the midbrain, which holds trauma related sensations and emotions.
